Support Our Troops!
There are numerous ways we can show support for the men and women serving our country overseas. While we do not endorse any specific group or organization, here are some groups which can help you support our troops:

Operation Enduring Love

"Operation Enduring Love is a unique way to help connect our servicemembers overseas with their families here at home. It's a touching example of how technology can bridge the distance and help unite the many families who are sacrificing for our country."
- U.S. Senator Patty Murray (WA)

Operation USO Care Package

Due to heightened security, individuals can no longer send letters and packages addressed to “Any Service Member.” Operation USO Care Package provides a safe, easy way for you to show that your thoughts are with our service members. The Care Packages contain an assortment of items specifically requested by the military, such as prepaid international calling cards, disposable cameras, toiletries, and sunscreen.

Homes For Our Troops

Homes for Our Troops, Inc., is a Massachusetts nonprofit corporation building specially adapted homes for our disabled veterans of war. This is an organization strongly committed to assisting our disabled and seriously injured veterans and their immediate families. The organization is dedicated to helping those who have selflessly given to their country and have returned home with serious disabilities and injuries.

The Fisher House

The Fisher House program is a unique private-public partnership that supports America's military in their time of need. The program recognizes the special sacrifices of our men and women in uniform and the hardships of military service by meeting a humanitarian need beyond that normally provided by the Department of Defense. Click on the link above to find out how you can help our troops through Fisher House.

Books for Soldiers

Books For Soldiers is a soldier support site that ships books, DVDs and supplies to deployed soliders and soldiers in VA hospitals, via their large volunteer network.

If you have extra books that you're not reading, why not send them to a solider for a big morale boost?

Operation Gratitude

Hundreds of thousands of American troops are stationed or deployed indefinitely in remote parts of the world, including the Persian Gulf, Afghanistan, Africa, the Korean Peninsula and on ships throughout international waters. The physical conditions they must endure are difficult and they may be separated from loved ones for long periods of time. Operation Gratitude seek to lift troops' morale, and bring a smile to their faces by sending Care Packages to service members overseas. Operation Gratitude Care Packages contain food, toiletries, necessities, entertainment items and personal letters of appreciation, all wrapped with good wishes of love and support.

Operation Dear Abby.net

Dear Abby has provided this tool to send your message of support to the troops. Soldiers can log into this from anywhere in the world and read your words of encouragment.

Operation Uplink

Using contributions from supporters like you, Operation Uplink purchases phone cards and distributes them to servicemen and women.

TAPS: Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors

TAPS is a national non-profit organization serving family, friends and military service members who have been affected by a death in the armed services.

Hero Miles Program

In September 2003, the Pentagon started giving soldiers stationed in Iraq two-week leaves in the largest R & R program since the Vietnam War. Soldiers on R & R or Emergency Leave are flown by the military to Germany or three airports in the United States, Baltimore/Washington, (BWI), Dallas/Fort Worth, (DFW), or Atlanta, (ATL ) for free.

Existing law in 2003 required soldiers to pay for their own flights home from these three airports. The Hero Miles program was started to provide free round trip tickets donated by the American public to the almost 500 soldiers arriving each day from Iraq on R & R Leave last fall. This public response helped persuade Congress to change the law and beginning January 1, 2004, the Pentagon now pays for these domestic flights for the soldiers.

Operation Hero Miles provides a way for you to help our troops stationed in Iraq and Afghanistan by donating your unused frequent flyer miles.
